Brazil Roundtable

Brazil is still very much in demand as a trade and investment destination thanks to its attractive markets, a consumer-oriented society, and government subsidies. But what do such specific incentive measures look like? Why is it particularly profitable to invest in Brazil? What are the reasons for why the country is seen as a desirable business location? What obstacles or risks must be considered when making direct investments? What tips do multinational companies experienced in the Brazil market have for new investors?

On October 9, 2013, executives of international companies will meet together at the Global Success Club in Frankfurt am Main at a roundtable to get to the bottom of these issues. At this exclusive table, topics like the investment climate and the country's legal and political framework will be discussed. One of the discussion leaders will be Alex Figueiredo from Apex-Brazil, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency. Additionally, Andreas Fobbe, Export Sales Manager for North and South American from ifm electronic GmbH will also be present as a guest of the Global Success Club. He will report on his knowledge of Brazilian businesses and provide a foundation for others to exchange their own experiences in this exclusive roundtable.

USA Roundtable

The EU and U.S. are discussing a free trade zone, which is raising the hopes of many companies. The discussions deal with the reduction of tariffs and other trade barriers such as safety standards, technical norms or competition rules, which are supposed to be harmonized within a single agreement. The United States is Germany's second most important trading partner in terms of exports. According DIHK, the agreement could increase exports to the United States at an annual rate of up to five billion euros. In particular, the pharmaceutical and chemical industries as well as automotive industry would benefit from the removal of trade barriers, according to the Stiftung Wirtschaft und Politik. Around 27 percent of exports to the U.S. are motor vehicles and the associated parts; about 17 percent are chemical products.

Undoubtedly, the topics pertaining to the U.S. are quite exciting for innovative, international companies. Not even the NSA scandal was able to stymie interest in the U.S. What is the image of Germans in the USA and the image of Americans in Germany? What shapes the image of German companies in the U.S.? In what direction is the American economy developing? What can we expect for the future of transatlantic economic relations? In cooperation with the U.S. Consulate General in Frankfurt, we have invited Prof. Crister S. Garrett, a professor of American foreign policy and International Studies whose research areas address these questions, to come to our offices in Frankfurt. In addition, we will also host the Vice Consul of the U.S. Consulate General in Frankfurt. He will be available for questions regarding business visas in the U.S.

Turkey Roundtable

In addition to numerous global players, Turkey has also been attracting more and more small- and medium-sized businesses. Are you also interested in entering the Turkish market? Do you need information about investment incentives in Turkey? Or are you interested in sharing experiences with businesses that are already established in Turkey? In the Global Success Club Roundtable on July 1, 2013, you will get both expert information and personal experiences. Economic Attaché Mr. Gürol Başaran and Commercial Attaché Mrs. Gülay Babadogan Tarakcioglu from the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Frankfurt explain the most important laws and will also be available to answer industry-specific questions. After their segment, you will then have the opportunity to benefit from the experiences of selected companies representing various industries. Since theory and practice rarely form a precise match, we have asked several industry representatives to share their experiences at our roundtable, including: Prof. Dr. phil. nat. Heinz Hänel, Project Director in the R&D Diabetes Division at Sanofi-Aventis with three decades of Turkey experience; and Mr. Andreas Spamer-Schmidt, International Sales Manager at Becker-Antriebe GmbH, which has established a subsidiary in the Izmir region.
